About us

Training Terms of Reference

Objectives

On behalf of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board, the Training Sub Group has the following objectives:

  • To ascertain local Safeguarding Children training needs.
  • To ensure an appropriate training framework is developed, reflecting single and inter-agency training responsibilities.
  • To develop a LSCB multi agency Safeguarding Children Training Plan.
  • To evaluate safeguarding training in order to promote effective practice to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • To report to LSCB on any gaps in existing training provision.

Tasks

  • To develop a structure for an organised and co-ordinated approach to inter agency training.
  • To establish a system for identifying training needs.
  • To promote inter-agency training.
  • To develop, for approval by the LSCB, an annual programme of Safeguarding Training within existing resource constraints.
  • To ensure that safeguarding training delivered on behalf of the LSCB is to a consistently high standard.
  • To ensure that all inter agency training reflects an understanding of the rights of children, and is informed by an active respect for diversity, and a commitment to ensuring equality of opportunity.
  • To ensure that all training is regularly evaluated, and takes account of recommendations from inspections, audits, and serious case reviews.
  • To produce an annual Inter-Agency Training Report for submission to the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
